Today, I was just really craving some chocolate + peanut butter. Okay, let's be honest...that's every day.
Because of my activity level and metabolism, I often get really hungry and need a healthy source of carbs/sugar to satisfy my cravings and hunger.
This smoothie definitely does the trick.
There's just something about chocolate + peanut butter mixed into an ice-cold drink that make you feel like you're indulging in the world's greatest dessert.
I used to turn to soda and chocolate doughnuts for those afternoon cravings but the real-food world has so much more to offer in terms of flavor and nutrition!
The thing about smoothies is that most recipes use protein powder, which I've never been a huge fan of, but have used periodically. I've experienced a variety of symptoms from them and have finally decided to be done with them entirely.
I think they can still be a good thing for some people, but my body just doesn't like it on a regular basis. Plus, they are way more expensive than just using real, whole foods.
So, I created this smoothie that happens to be loaded in protein (28 grams!!) + tastes like a dessert.
You can add some strong coffee to make it a mocha or fancy it up to make it look more like dessert by drizzling my dairy-free chocolate sauce on the sides of the glass before pouring the smoothie in.
